Barbara Neill

"I am appalled by the number of homeless people living on the streets."

I'm Barbara, mother of three adult sons, writer, pensions campaigner and candidate for Labour in High Street Ward, Maidstone. I was born in the 1950s and discovered, just weeks before my 60th birthday, that I would have to wait an extra six years before being eligible for my pension. I am one of 3.8 million women who have been adversely affected by changes to the State Pension Age.

I have lived in and around Maidstone for most of my life and I'm passionate about wanting to achieve a fairer society for everyone.

In Maidstone, and High Street Ward especially, I am appalled by the number of homeless people living on the streets, the incidents of violent crime in the town, the creeping privatisation of the NHS in the town and the unacceptably high level of air pollution in Maidstone town centre.
